Meet Grant Mitchell! He’s our amazing CEO. In this video Grant introduces himself and talks about Plus Group’s culture and what makes him feel driven at work.
Bonus Interview Q&A:
What is the biggest challenge in your career so far? The biggest challenge in my career so far has been balancing career objectives that compete with the various roles that I have. As CEO, I am passionate about spending time with Plus Group team members to solve problems with passion…but sometimes this can conflict with the role I play as dad, friend, grandpa, husband, etc. Deliberate prioritization of these roles is essential but not always easy, depending on the particular demands on a given day.
What is a key tip you could provide to an emerging leader? The key tip I would give to an emerging leader would be to be the CMO (Chief Meaning Officer) within your organization. My mission is to positively impact everyone I meet, from clients, Suppliers, Team Members, and even the competition. Our meaning as individuals within a team is contingent on making others successful. It’s a strange dichotomy…The natural me says, grow yourself to achieve success, in reality, I need to develop others and make others successful. While I know this is correct in my brain and proven through research; the challenge is committing to actions that demonstrate this truth deliberately every day.
What’s your favorite moment of your career so far? My favorite moment of my career has been moving from the customer of engineering automation and construction services to the provider of those services. Early in my career, I was a supervisor responsible for the operations in a production facility. I love to see when our team translates the design into the reality of an operational plant. It is exciting to see the pace of technology change in today’s design environment to accommodate the holistic visualization of an operation. The translation of a design from the virtual to the reality is always my favorite part of the project…The flipping on a switch with the startup of a new operation.
Guilty Pleasure: What can you not live without? Graeter’s Ice cream and Skyline Chili. Cincinnati staples for years. If you are in the area, you have to try them!!
Future prediction: What is coming in the industry within the next 10 years? In the next ten years, advanced technology will aid in the design process empowering designers to utilize their intelligence supporting input to the program that provides the output rather than creating the output themselves. Twin modeling will enable plant owners to visualize plant operations and simulate plant upsets to enhance training. 3D printing will be improved to accommodate construction efficiency for custom shapes and modules that can be assembled faster, better, and at a lower overall project cost.
