GOALS: Multiple new roasters, mixers, and grinders were to be installed on site, while minimizing downtime. In order to conserve energy and equipment costs, coffee transport equipment was to be shared between systems. Due to the risk of product contamination, the system was to be fully automatic. This reduced the chance of accidentally mixing different products.
SOLUTION/APPROACH: New roasters, mixers, and grinder stackups were added to the site. The equipment was integrated into the existing TDC3000 / PLC-5 control system. Multiple installations were required to migrate the equipment to reduce risk and downtime. The roasters were controlled by dedicated PLC-5s. The transport system was controlled by the existing transport PLC- 5s. The mixers and recipe management for all equipment was handled by Honeywell TDC3000 Application Module (AM) and HPM controller software.
